Mindfulness is achieved through regular practice. Developing your own practice and becoming a mindful parent will benefit you, as well as your child. Being mindful of how you respond to your own anger, frustration, and disappointment will have an influence on how your child responds to these strong emotions. Mindful parents respond to their child’s needs with more understanding and they model how to relate to others in a compassionate way. They learn to accept their children exactly as they are. Parents who practice mindfulness find that they enjoy parenting much more. Being totally present and “in the moment” will strengthen the relationship you have with your child.
